Hi, my name is Jackie, and for the next 10 months, until my 40th birthday, I have committed to taking the Vegan Challenge. During this challenge I will eat only plant-based whole foods. I will also eliminate all highly processed and refined foods from my diet. As a lifelong meat and dairy eater, this challenge should, at the very least, prove interesting!

For the past 15 years I have struggled with obesity and have developed an unhealthy addiction to food and sugar. I alsoΒ have a genetic propensity for diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. As I am now 60 lbs overweight, I know that without radical change, there is a very real possibility that I will develop one of these life threatening conditions.

I will be recording my progress weekly, as well as posting my favorite recipes and tips. To change things up, I will also undertake week-long mini-challenges as I explore some of the more focused vegan diets such as the Raw Food diet and the Green Smoothie diet.

I hope that as I begin to see success, others will find the courage and inspiration to join me on this vegan journey to better health!

So proud of you sis! Gotta say, your a very gifted and inspirational writer. I love how you’ve taken hold of this challenge and are just doing such a great job with it. Your recipes are awesome too! Love you

    • Awe…your sweet. I’m so glad you finally read it!! πŸ™‚

Subscribe to my blog, and you will get an email when I post new things. Plus, it inflates my ego to see that I have “followers”! πŸ™‚

  3. Love this! I think the tone is great for giving readers a feel for your enthusiasm and determination and helping them catch onto those things too. And breaking it into relatively short paragraphs makes it quick to read and simple to see the different points about why you’re doing this and what the site will include. Now that Regina mentioned the “more about Jackie” page I’m disappointed that you took it down (at least, there’s nothing there when I click on it :(), and I think a “more about” page is a great idea for going more in depth but leaving the main about page simple. I’m excited to start reading your posts and learning how this is going for you! A friend of mine and also my SIL each went vegan for a month and noticed they didn’t feel good without dairy and eggs to boost their energy, so I’m curious to see how you feel about it as you go along. πŸ™‚

      Thanks Nikki!

Hmmm…I wonder why you couldn’t open the “more about” page? It works fine for me. Will you try it again? (I could have set it up wrong.)

About my energy…I have never felt so good! I think the key has been the green smoothies. I feel so good after drinking them! I suspect that they are also the reason I have been able to kick my sugar habit so quickly. πŸ™‚

Hey Jax, this is awesome! It is fun to read and is giving me some great ideas! I stumbled across a cool blog the other day filled with tons of really great ideas for vegan desserts.
http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/ There are some that use natural sugars like agave, maple syrup, honey and stevia….cant remember if you are staying away from all forms of sugar…love you!Liz

Wow, this blog made me realize how bad my blog sucks. Everything looks great. You are brave to take on this challenge, good luck!

Jackie- The website looks great! It is very inviting right from the start. I really like how your about page stays on topic, and really is kind of jaw-dropping, just because the vegan challenge sounds like a super-duper hard challenge!!. The picture makes it seem a lot more personable, and I like how you include a little (but not too much) about yourself. It stays on topic very well!!

I love love love the more about jackie page. I love learning about the people behind the blogs and what sort of a background they come from, what they like, etc. It makes it more interesting in my opinion!!

Keep up the good work! You can tell you have done a lot of work already on your site.
